Discussion Forum > Sharing Access

A landowner recently asked me my thoughts on allowing a neighbour use of access to haul wood out through his property and wood road.
Assuming good relations between neighbours and you wish to allow access, it would generally be agreed upon to do any required road upgrading and trail planning so as not to degrade the access but leave it in better condition following use. I would get involved in the trail planning and try and be there when activity starts. It may seem excessive, but getting something in writing may be the only leverage in the event damage is done to the area. Remember that haul trails get the most traffic over the life of the operation and are subject to continual heavy loads. Planning, planning, planning!
